Case study: a brand new brand and website for Talking Talent

When Talking Talent burst into the Onefish Twofish hemisphere, the business was only a twinkle in the eye of founders Chris Parke and Jo Lyon. At this stage, it didn’t even have a name but it was clear to all at Onefish Twofish that Chris and Jo had a winner on their hands.

Our job was to create a warm and sophisticated brand and a suite of websites which their diverse target audiences would return to over and over again….

What exactly does Talking Talent do?
The business is a consultancy which focuses on the complex transition that women make when they become working mothers. Put simply, it makes businesses more profitable and working mothers happier by smoothing this transition via coaching for the women, training for their managers/HR and policies which support working parents. Where women play strategic roles or hold specialist knowledge it’s vital that their employers think creatively about how to ensure these women choose to return to work after pregnancy and that they hit the ground running when they get there. Creating an identity
The first item in the job bag was to create a look and feel for the new business, aptly named Talking Talent. Given that their audience is polarised into Diversity/HR Directors (buyers), HR managers (implementers) and working mothers (end users) it was crucial that the brand showed real warmth and clarity but was also heavyweight enough to reassure senior decision-makers in global firms.

Developing a suite of sites which members would return to
Onefish Twofish created a site for each audience, tying together the brand but also clearly delineating between the segment sites using colour and imagery.

Additionally two of the sites were designed to be community sites, requiring membership. By implementing interactive functionality, Onefish Twofish created membership areas where visitors could truly interact and gain insight which held real value to them. For example, the HR membership site contains:

  • online polling where individuals can submit their views, also providing Talking Talent with valuable market data
  • ‘Ask an expert’ area where visitors can ask a peer, a legal expert or a working mother a specific question and gain a personal response
  • a huge article and resource library where HR managers can read insight, case studies and pull quotes and stats for their own reports

Lightening the administrative load
All three sites are fully content managed which means that Talking Talent can update any part of the site at any time, without any input from Onefish Twofish. This includes adding articles, polls, moderating the fora and even adding new pages or items to the menu bar. We even created a super-quick update system so that they can update most parts of the site on the run.
